AUCKLANDERS CAN COLLECT GROCERIES AT TRANSPORT HUBS

Countdown and Auckland Transport (AT) are teaming up to make life easier for commuters. Secure online grocery Click&Collect lockers have been introduced at Albany Bus Station, New Lynn Transport Centre, Orakei Train Station, Matiatia Ferry Terminal (Waiheke Island) and Downtown Car Park. On the whole, over 95,000 Aucklanders use these five transport hubs on a daily basis.

Currently being rolled out as a six-month trial, the service allows shoppers to collect their groceries on the way home.
“Through this Click&Collect trial, we aim to provide our customers with even greater levels of convenience and flexibility, whatever their mode of transport,” said Mark Lambert, Auckland Transport Chief AT Metro Officer.

According to Sally Copland, Countdown’s head of online shopping, the new service will cater to an increasingly cosmopolitan crowd.
“We are already seeing the traditional once-a-week shop being replaced by smaller, more frequent shops. This also means that supermarket shopping won’t take up as much kitchen storage as customers look to buy more fresh produce regularly, and will be light enough to carry home as part of the commute home on public transport.”
