Coca-Cola has announced new leadership appointments to drive its ongoing transformation into a “growth-oriented, consumer-centered, total beverage company.” The changes, which will come into effect when President and COO James Quincey becomes CEO on 1st May, will involve a number of key developments. Firstly, Global Marketing, Customer and Commercial Leadership, and Strategy will be combined into one function under the leadership of a new Chief Growth Officer. This will drive growth across five strategic beverage categories. A Chief Innovation Officer will be appointed to bring Global Research & Development into a standalone innovation function reporting directly to the CEO. The company believes this will add an increased importance of innovation to the company’s growth plans.

Additionally, the Information Technology function will directly report to the CEO and therefore represent the importance of digitisation as a growth enabler for the company’s business. Key global transactional and expertise services will be combined into an expanded reformed Integrated Services organisation that will mainly focus on finance, procurement and associate shared services. “Today’s organisational announcement is another building block in our company’s transformational journey,” Quincey said. “We are moving quickly to structure our organisation for faster growth and to ensure we can respond to the fast-changing needs of our consumers, customers, system and associates around the world. Each of the leaders named today is highly capable and understands our clear mandate for change, and I look forward to partnering with them as we transform our business for the future.” The changes are part of wider work in progress to create a slimmer, more agile corporate organisation more focused on strategy, governance and vital strategic initiatives and add to changes already made by Quincey last year to the company’s international operations leadership team.
