Nestlé has announced a new partnership with e-commerce platform Alibaba, making its brands available online to Chinese consumers. According to Wan Ling Martello, executive vice president, Nestlé Asia, more than 75 percent of Chinese shoppers use the Internet for browsing, purchasing and giving reviews, and thanks to its online presence the company has been able to increase sales by 289 percent last year.
Aiming to generate over $1 billion of online revenues by 2020, Mondelez also teamed up with Alibaba earlier this year.
