For the third year in a row Countdown’s Angus beef has been declared the Supreme Brand Winner at the 2017 Steak of Origin awards.
The Awards are an annual event run by New Zealand Beef and Lamb to select the best steak producers in the country.
Countdown placed first and third in the Best of Brand: Retail. Countdown Angus beef beat out tough competition to be named Supreme Brand Winner Award.
Senior Category Manager Meat and Livestock, John van Boxel, says winning the brand award for the third year running is a huge achievement and the team are delighted.
“Winning again this year is great recognition of the top quality meats that Countdown has to offer. We ensure we have close relationships with our farmers, which helps us to achieve such high standards and these awards show us the benefit of working together.
“Winning for the third time is a testament of the priority we place on quality meat at low prices every day” said van Boxel.
Steaks submitted to the competition go through rigorous testing before the finalists and then winners are announced. A panel of judges determined the winners based on criteria such as aroma, tenderness, juiciness and taste.
