Waikato’s first dedicated food rescue service Kaivolution is getting ready for its Posh Nosh gala dinner tonight in Hamilton. All money raised during the event will go towards funding Kaivolution’s operations, allowing them to employ more van drivers and operate from larger food sorting facilities.
Since its inception two years ago, Kaivolution have collected more than 180 tonnes of surplus food from retailers.
Countdown has donated $5,500 towards the Posh Nosh Gala Dinner. The relationship between the supermarket chain and Kaivolution has grown stronger over the past few months: six Waikato stores have donated over 50 tonnes of food since March, which account for around 40 percent of the food distributing by Kaivolution in 2016.
A few tickets for tonight’s gala dinner are still up for grabs on Eventbrite.
