NEW DSM FACILITY RUNS ON RENEWABLE ENERGY

The Royal DSM science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living has announced the official opening of its upgraded facility in Auckland.

The newly upgraded facility is run on renewable electricity sources and will further improve DSM’s resource efficacy while decreasing its emissions. The company is hoping to expand its footprint in the market after having a presence of more than 20 years.

There will be a range of sustainable and advanced nutritional compounds for Early Life Nutrition, Food & Beverage, Sports Nutrition and Medical Nutrition. In order to improve the growing consumer market for nutritional products in the Asia Pacific region, the new site will optimise the production of micronutrient premixes.

To deepen DSM’s connection with its consumers in the Oceania region, DSM will draw on the latest science and technology to develop solutions and innovation capabilities that guarantee customers extract maximum value from the solutions.

“Our newly upgraded facility in Auckland will further advance the high-quality standards in the production of our nutritional premix,” said general manager, Leah Davey. “We will continue to front-run the production of premixes with new and innovative ingredients, all of which will enable our customers and partners to deliver more innovative and sustainable solutions to tackle some of the toughest social and environmental challenges.”

The plant’s electricity consumption is expected to contribute a net positive to climate action as the facility will function on renewable electricity generated from solar, hydro and geothermal sources.
