POWERADE NAMES SOPHIE PASCOE AS LATEST BRAND AMBASSADOR

Powerade has a long history of aligning themselves with New Zealand’s most impressive professional athletes. Their latest brand ambassador is Paralympic swimming sensation, Sophie Pascoe whose meteoric rise saw her recently named as New Zealand’s 21st Commonwealth Games flag bearer.

Pascoe said she is excited to join the Powerade team and looks forward to working together to help inspire other athletes in pursuit of their sporting dreams.

“It’s a massive privilege to join the likes of Steven Adams, Kane Williamson and Israel Dagg as part of Powerade’s stable of ambassadors. To also be the first para athlete and female makes me extremely proud and I hope my work with Powerade can help encourage both sportswomen and men.”

At age 15 Pascoe became the youngest New Zealand medal winner taking home three gold medals and a silver from the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. Whilst being New Zealand’s flag bearer at the 21st Commonwealth Games Pascoe went on to win two gold medals.

Powerade Brand Manager, Jodie Timmins, said, “We’ve been looking for a strong female ambassador who shares the same values as us for some time. We know New Zealanders love athletes who are proven performers at the highest level on the global stage. Like Steven, Kane and Izzy, Sophie epitomizes the pursuit of sporting excellence and is a great fit for Powerade.”

“Powerade is designed to be in balance with your body’s fluid, giving high-performance athletes fast hydration and energy when they need it most. For those like Sophie who train hard and push their body to the limits, sports drinks can be a key component to maintaining performance.”

As well as her nine Paralympic gold medals, Pascoe was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit, the 2016 Halberg Sport New Zealand Leadership Award and the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation Disabled Sportsperson of the Year in 2011-2013, 2015 & 2017.

In addition to its ambassadors, Powerade is also a proud partner of New Zealand Cricket, the New Zealand Investec Super Rugby teams, the ASB Auckland Marathon and the Air New Zealand Queenstown International Marathon.
