From their base in Rolleston, Christchurch, Pure Oil New Zealand craft their high quality rapeseed oil. Supplying in bulk to food manufacturers throughout New Zealand, as well as overseas, Pure Oil New Zealand have expanded rapidly, and are now taking on the consumer market. Rapeseed oil has grown in popularity at an unprecedented rate in Europe and the UK, which inspired Pure Oil New Zealand to begin their manufacturing journey. An additional point of inspiration was the goal of lifting the quality of everyday culinary oil used by ultimate consumers.
Starting their brand ‘the Good Oil’ in 2014, Pure Oil have a sustainability focus. Their rapeseed oil is pressed with no chemicals or heat, and has no genetically engineered inputs. Rapeseed oil is low in saturated fats, with 50% less than olive oil, and high in monounsaturated fats (the good ones). With a high smoke-point, and a mild flavour, rapeseed oil is perfect for home cooking, baking and frying, as well as a light and delicious salad dressing.
Thus far to consumers, the Good Oil has been a secret only known to South Islanders and Aucklanders. New World, FreshChoice and Raeward Fresh stores are the South Island stockists, while the Good Oil can be found in Auckland at Farro Fresh. But expansion is firmly on the horizon, the Good Oil are planning to further infiltrate the North Island market in 2018, with stockists still unannounced. Pure Oil New Zealand initially dived into the market in 2014, distributing the Good Oil to industry partners as a Christmas gift, and receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback.
