TESCO WILL NO LONGER BE 24/7

British supermarket chain Tesco will no longer open stores for 24 hours. The company has explained that, due to the rise in popularity of online shopping, fewer customers rely on overnight grocery stores. The move is set to hit 76 stores (of a total of 3,500 across the UK), and will come into force between March and April this year; the supermarkets will then remain open only between 6am and midnight. The decision, according to the company, is expected to have a minimal impact on staff, who would still work during the night to get stores ready for the following day.
After a grim couple of years, over the festive season Tesco has shown a surprise growth in sales, encouraged by lower prices and 4,000 additional ‘Here to Help’ staff in stores.
