WALMART DELIVERS VIA UBER

Grocery chain Walmart has announced plans to expand its grocery delivery partnership via rideshare service Uber to two new markets – Orlando and Dallas.

Residents in the two metro areas will be able to shop online or through a mobile browser to build an online basket and place an order, selecting the most convenient time for the order to be delivered. Personal shoppers hired by the retailer will pick and scan items, then request an Uber delivery partner to pick up the order for delivery.

“Last year, we began testing grocery delivery through crowd-sourced services like Uber,” Walmart said online. “Here’s what we’ve learned: Customers like you love the convenience of a delivery option.” Tests were launched last June for grocery delivery with Uber and Lyft. Additionally, Walmart has been testing its own delivery systems via its own associates who are given the option of making some extra cash by dropping off orders on their way home from work.
