WOMEN APPOINTED AT NZ WINEGROWERS

Rachel Taulelei (head of Kono) and Katherine Jacobs (co-owner of Big Sky Wines) are NZ Winegrowers newly appointed directors, bringing the board numbers up to 12.

Sustainability has always been a major factor in Taulelei’s business history, which led her to win a Sir Peter Blake Leadership award in 2012 and the Membership of the New Zealand Order of Merit last year.

Jacobs will be the only Wellington Wine Country representative on the board. She has a background in advertising and marketing, both in New Zealand and London. Later in life, while living in France with her husband Jeremy, she started studying viticulture and winemaking. Hooked on the potential of the industry in NZ, the couple bought a 10-hectare block in Martinborough and began developing their vineyard and brand, Big Sky Wines.
