Gerry’s Wraps serves as further proof of the indomitable Canterbury spirit. The team spoke to Gerry’s Wraps about overcoming the destruction of the Christchurch earthquakes.
What is your company background, how did you start the business?
“Gerry Barrett and Lance McCarthy founded Gerry’s Wraps with a small tortilla and naan-bread-making oven after their first business was ruined in the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake. Friends for over 25 years, as bakers we seized the opportunity to join the growing health food market with a goal to create healthy, tasty products made with good, honest ingredients.”
What is the current product range and variants and how do these products stand out in the market? (Are they gluten free? Do they utilise unique or new ingredients or techniques? Are they the only one of its kind?)
“We currently offer five different wraps - four of which are gluten free! Gerry’s Corn Star, Gerry’s Go No Gluten 7inch, Gerry’s Go No Gluten 10inch and Gerry’s Go No Gluten Super Spinach are all gluten free and dairy free. Our Gerry’s Go Low Carb wrap is low in carbohydrates and an excellent source of dietary fibre. We are also proud to be the authorised New Zealand distributor of Mountain Bread. We currently offer 7 types of the widely regarded wraps.”
Has there been any recent company news? (i.e New management, new product launches, new location, staff changes, or other news of this kind, awards?)
“We welcomed our newest addition to the Gerry’s Wraps family in July of last year. The Go No Gluten Super Spinach is the first of its kind New Zealand!”
What are the plans for the business moving forward, is there any expansion on the horizon?
“We are always on the lookout for innovative new ideas and rising health food trends. Ideally, we would like to expand our product range with at least two new products each year.”
