Nelson's best kept secret, Kiwi Kai brings you the best Kaimoana and Maori foods in the region. Their Atutahi drinks range combine unique Kiwi ingredients to create a unique Kiwi taste.
What is your company background, how did you start the business?
Kiwi Kai Nelson has been operating for ten years as a small market business. We moved to a retail outlet three years ago bringing our product range to the customer. Suppliers of Indigenous tastes and flavours with an emphasis on Maori indigenous kai and Seafood.
We ensure all products are traceable, sustainable and suppliers follow good ethics - this has been our drive from day one.
Now we have our wonderful Atutahi drinks at the forefront of our business.
What is the current product range and variants and how do these products stand out in the market?
The Kiwi Kai Atutahi drink range is very new to the market. Made from our hand harvested New Zealand native leaf, this low sugar beautiful drink range is very special, named after our grandfather and made with aroha.
The leaf is sustainably managed and grown on whanau land (private properties) that we hand harvest, dry and prepare for our brewer. The lemon and lime mix is professionally made for us by Barkers Geraldine. New Zealand blackcurrant concentrate and Tasman Bay boysenberry concentrate are used to compliment the health benefits that these leaves carry.
Current Atutahi drink range:
- Kawakawa Lemon & Lime
- Kumarahou Lemon & Lime
- Horopito Blackcurrant & Boysenberry
We are working on two new flavours using Kanuka and Manuka leaf and look forward to bringing this to the market for summer.
What are the plans for the business moving forward, is there any expansion on the horizon?
Kiwi Kai Nelson is strongly focused on taking our new Atutahi drinks to the world. We are currently investigating new horizons within the ASEAN market.
