Now sold in 90 countries worldwide, Häagen-DazsTM is about to make its entrance into the New Zealand market. Five heavenly ice cream flavours will soon be available in supermarket chillers; Strawberries and Cream, Belgian Chocolate, Macadamia Nut Brittle, Salted Caramel and Vanilla.

Häagen-DazsTM has been making ice cream like no other since 1961 and the philosophy remains the same to this day, constantly creating new moments of ice cream magic and making the everyday, extraordinary.

Born in the Bronx, the American ice cream brand was the brainchild of young entrepreneur Reuben Mattus who had a vision for changing the way the world saw ice cream.

At a time when others were cutting corners and pumping their ice cream with air to give it volume, Mattus did something entirely different. He pushed little air into his ice cream and it’s that simple difference that set Haagen-DazsTM ice cream apart.

A lucky accident led Reuben to his secret recipe. His whipping machine jammed and he discovered that low air content created a rich, velvety texture. After years of hard work, he’d perfected his recipe.

“Häagen-DazsTM brings with it an ingredients list that abstains from using any artificial flavours or preservatives or stabilisers,” says Häagen-Dazs Marketing Manager, Keezia Haste.

“Our customers come first and we have strongly identified with the ever-increasing consumer demand for premium and luxurious food products with a ‘none of the nasties’ label.

“Häagen-DazsTM ice cream starts with four simple ingredients – fresh cream, milk, eggs, and sugar – to create its signature creaminess. Made in France using locally produced milk and cream from nearby farms, only carefully selected ingredients are added to create the flavours, sourced from producers around the globe.”

Häagen-DazsTM also know not to change a good thing. Their vanilla, which is made with the four ingredient base and vanilla extract have remained unchanged for more than 50 years. Similarly, six years were spent searching the globe for the ideal strawberry to deliver the perfect taste, aroma and colour for its Strawberries and Cream flavour. A great example of the brand’s commitment to quality.

The success of the company Reuben Mattus founded more than 50 years ago seems to stem from a continued focus on sourcing premium ingredients and putting in only the necessary.

Häagen-DazsTM is sold across New Zealand supermarkets from the 12th September 2017. Range will include five-pint flavours RRP $12.49 and two Mini Cup collections RRP $12.99
