Rebel Bakehouse is the latest innovation from Breadcraft, a company based in the Wairarapa with 75-years of history producing some of New Zealand’s finest baked goods. In March, Rebel Bakehouse are launching four new products, cricket flour, hemp, purple corn and spinach wraps to Kiwi consumers, the first products of their kind to hit supermarket shelves.

There is significant demand from Kiwis for healthy, sustainable food options.  We believe sustainably sourced, environmentally friendly proteins are the future of food. Already 2 billion people eat crickets every day, and hemp is one of the few sources of complete protein for plant-based eaters. Good for you, and good for the environment.

Rebel Bakehouse’s wraps all have a minimum 4-star health rating, and we are working towards achieving 5-stars. We aren’t stopping there, we also have plans to expand our range and offer Kiwis more healthy, sustainable, good-for-you food options.

A family-owned company of Mediterranean origins, Lahmajou’s rise from honest, humble beginnings to become New Zealand’s largest specialised flatbread manufacturer and a major supplier to the New Zealand grocery industry is a tale of Kiwi ingenuity and authenticity. Giannis Michaelides set sail from Cyprus in 1966 and arrived in Christchurch with only the clothes on his back, a wonderful smile and a healthy appetite for leavened bread his mother had taught him to make.

With this kind of honest-to-goodness philosophy, Kiwi No. 8 wire mentality, and refusal to compromise the integrity of the products is fundamental to the way the family business continues to run in 2018.

27 years later and going from strength to strength, Giannis now has an extensive range of Pita Bread, Wraps, Pizza Bases, Tortilla and Naan bread products that are available on the New Zealand market. They have also recently launched a Gluten Free Pita Bread offering and will continue to bring innovation to the Pita Bread and flatbread category into 2019.

Founded over 17 years ago, to offer a delicious range of allergy-friendly baked goods to kiwis, Bakeworks and Home St products are firm favourites in many homes. Unlike other gluten-free offerings, their loaves are soft and taste great – from sandwiches to burgers, even a good eat eggs bene – there is something for everyone. Everything baked by the team at Bakeworks is made from scratch, the old fashioned way.

Home St is all about sprouting and activating. Home St was created using specifically selected ingredients including activated seeds grown in their bakery, every bite is packed full of an abundance of nutrients and goodness.

The Home St range is gluten-free, grain-free/paleo, dairy-free, soy-free and is about bringing something new to market, that is why the team have had a huge response to their newest product – Home St Keto loaf – with only 1.7 grams of carbs per 100g.

The Midnight Baker began four years ago with Yeshe Dawa and her unsuccessful search for good gluten-free bread. She turned to make her own creations which brought about the Freedom Loaf, a delicious, filling seeded loaf free of gluten, wheat, dairy, refined sugar, yeast and nuts.  Since then she has grown her one woman late night side project into a small bakery supplying loaves to cafes and restaurants around New Zealand, and a plant-based weekend eatery in Mt Eden. A passionate baker, her mission is to make delicious food that just so happens to be gluten and dairy free; to give customers the freedom to eat without worry and to enjoy food in its most natural, nutritious form.
