UK | Diet Coke has announced the comeback of its iconic Diet Cherry Coke.
First launched in the 80s, the fan-favourite flavour will return to shelves in Great Britain, in packaging inspired by its original retro look.
With cherry reported as the flavour of the year, Diet Cherry Coke offers the same crisp taste of Diet Coke, now with a deliciously bold twist, just as the cosy season approaches.
“We have been listening and are so excited to announce the return of Diet Cherry Coke. The comeback of this retro icon is the tasty throwback that fans have been hoping for," said Tara Byrnes, Senior Brand Manager for Diet Coke Great Britain.
"Some love a classic, and others a twist; for some this little cherry-flavoured ritual will give an opportunity to make Diet Coke breaks reflect ‘your taste’ even more. Returning exclusively for a limited time, the flavour you love, cherry, is back – but get it while you can.”
From an afternoon desk escape to a between-the-shops pause, or get-ready-with-me treat, Diet Cherry Coke is the cherry on top of Diet Coke breaks. The addition of the retro packaging brings an added sense of nostalgia, appealing to long-time Diet Coke fans as well as to new generations of cherry lovers everywhere.
Rob Yeomans, vice-president, commercial development at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) GB, said that Diet Coke is the original sugar-free cola and has long been a loved and trusted brand in Great Britain, with a customer base so loyal that 32 percent of its drinkers are not only brand-exclusive but would drop out of cola if Diet Coke weren’t available.
Combine this with the fact that cherry flavours have delivered 55 percent of value sales growth across total colas over the past year, and it’s clear that the return of Diet Cherry Coke gives us a great opportunity to excite shoppers and drive further growth.
Diet Cherry Coke is available now, exclusively at Tesco stores , in 24 x 300ml multipack cans, 500ml bottles, 2L bottles.
