AUSTRALIA | This International Tea Day, Dilmah has given tea drinkers even more reason to put the kettle on by dollar-matching donations to the Cancer Council up to AUD 50,000 as part of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Since 1993, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has become one of the country’s favourite charity events, raising over AUD 200 million for the Cancer Council’s life-saving work.
This year, Dilmah will support the cause with a five-year partnership, bringing to life their passion for tea and the purpose of making the world a better place.
Whether hosting an event or joining one in the community, every sip can help fund cancer research, prevention programs and support services for those affected.
“At Dilmah, we believe in using our platform to make a genuine difference. We’re proud to support the Cancer Council and help bring Australia closer to a cancer-free future,” said Dilhan Fernando, CEO of Dilmah Tea.
“Kindness is at the heart of everything we do at Dilmah. Through this partnership, we’re proud to continue my father Merrill’s vision of using our tea to support people and communities in need, here in Australia and around the world.”
On the 21st of May, International Tea Day, Dilmah will match Cancer Council donations by inviting Australians to join in doubling the impact for those affected by cancer.
The official event day for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea 2025 is Thursday, the 22nd of May, but people can host their own fundraiser anytime throughout May and June. Whether it’s a big gathering or a quiet morning with friends, a tea party has the power to change lives.
At the heart of the Dilmah brand is its “Cup of Kindness” commitment. A minimum of 15 percent of pre-tax profit from sales of Dilmah tea directly benefits the work carried out by the MJF Charitable Foundation and Dilmah Conservation.
The MJF Charitable Foundation was established to honour founder Merrill J. Fernando’s wish to ensure that his business serves humanity through kindness to people and nature.
Since Merrill’s pioneering efforts to introduce Dilmah Tea to Australian households in 1985, the brand has become synonymous with quality and tradition. As consumer tastes have evolved, Dilmah has remained at the forefront of innovation, introducing new varieties while staying true to its heritage.
Among the latest releases is the Dilmah 85 Reserve, which offers exquisite handpicked Ceylon tea in luxury teabags. Each batch of this artisanal tea is hand-selected and crafted by Merrill J. Fernando himself, the master tea maker, to bring a taste of indulgence to the everyday.
