M&S Brixton Road Store Reopens

ransformed M&S Brixton Road store reopens to customers

UK | M&S Brixton Road reopened following a seven-month makeover to transform the shopping experience for customers.

Special guest Percy Pig joined Store Manager Mark Aldridge to host the ribbon-cutting moment and officially declare the store open. Local Steel Band players, London All Stars, were also on-site for the celebrations.

Customers can find a show-stopping bakery inside the brand-new, fresh, market-style food hall with a selection of fresh breads, including the retailer’s popular Collection Sourdough. Each loaf has been made through a 30-hour process, and pastries are baked throughout the day.

The bakery offers takeaway hot drinks, including barista-made coffee like M&S’ famous Magic Coffee. The store also has a Hot Chicken Counter, offering whole BBQ and butter-basted chicken.

With a broader selection of sandwiches, salads, snacks, and drinks available to grab and go, South London customers will be spoilt for choice.

Over 100 remarkable-value everyday staples are available across the store, price-bent against critical competitors and with an M&S quality point of difference.

Other highlights include a transformed flower shop, wine shop, and Click and Collect for online clothing, home, and beauty orders.

With the festive season just around the corner, M&S Brixton Road shoppers will be able to stock up on the most magical Christmas food line-up, from Halloumi in Blankets with Hot Honey to the build-your-own Charcuter-Tree, along with recently launched Choc Marks bars and Swiss Caramel and Milk Chocolate Clouds.

Further to the renewal, the launch was also a chance to mark 100 years of M&S in Brixton, as this was the retailer's first store in London. The Foodhall will also house interior artwork and an external mural designed by Create Not Destroy, talented creatives known for their roots in early London graffiti art culture.

“It’s fantastic to open the doors today and welcome back our customers. We’ve been part of the Brixton community for over 100 years. It is brilliant to unveil the best possible store with the most amazing M&S products, offering innovation, trusted value and all-important M&S magic,” said Store Manager Mark Aldridge.

“It’s extraordinary for me to celebrate my 20th year with M&S this year, and I couldn’t be prouder to lead the team. We know our customers will love the changes as much as we do, and I’d encourage everyone to come down and see the transformation for themselves.”

The transformation is part of M&S's £30m investment in its London stores, which was announced earlier this year.

Since April, the retailer has opened two brand-new food halls in London, at Friern Barnet and Sidcup, and renewed its Chancery Lane, Teddington, and Blackheath stores alongside Brixton Road.
