USA | Whole Foods Market opened the fourth location of its smaller format store concept, Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, in the Crystal City neighbourhood of Arlington, Virginia, last week.
This was the first of its kind outside of New York City. The store, located at Crystal Drive, has more than 10,000 square feet of retail space, making it the largest Whole Foods Market Daily Shop to open to date.
The store features more than 250 local items from the broader D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area and surrounding states, each meeting Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality standards.
“I am honored to open the doors to our first Whole Foods Market Daily Shop in the DC metro area. We’re a three-minute walk from the metro and close to Reagan airport in a neighbourhood busy with active residents, shopping and offices,” said Jose Gomez, Store Team Leader.
“If you want a quick lunch, need some ingredients on your way home from work, or you’re stopping in for a meal to-go ahead of a flight, we’re ready to serve you.”
On opening morning, customers were treated to complimentary coffee and samples from local suppliers, and the first 300 customers in line also received a limited-edition tote bag.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, Whole Foods Market is contributing in-kind product to Northern Virginia Food Rescue. Whole Foods Market will also make donations to local nonprofits ALIVE!, Inc. and the Arlington Food Assistance Centre.
