Satisfying The Curiosity

Hiatus Beer

Founded in 2022, Hiatus Beers is all about brewing crisp, refreshing, full-flavoured non-alcoholic beer.

Brewed in partnership with independent Australian breweries, Hiatus Beers have focused on quality above all else, from its selection of malts and hops to the size and frequency of the brews and the independent brewery partners specific to the beers produced.

Hiatus Beers’ Pacific Ale was awarded the inaugural trophy for champion no or low alcohol beer at the 2024 Royal Sydney Beer Show and picked up another gold medal at the 2025 Royal Melbourne Beer (AIBA) last year.

Jules Ryan, co-founder of Hiatus Beers, said that he and the other co-founders, Nic Sandery and Nick Detmold, have all been in the modern craft beer industry for a long time, across brewing and sales, and that, through personal life choices to slow down, they decided to start Hiatus Beers.

“With our industry experience, we are passionate about using the best ingredients to make delicious, refreshing non-alcoholic beer,” said Ryan.

“Hiatus is all about minimising alcohol consumption and championing the moderation movement. Our brewing philosophy is small and frequent to ensure that when consumers open a can of Hiatus, it's fresh, zingy and provides the refreshment of a beer without the alcohol.”

He added that although there has been increased education, belief, and embracement of non-alcoholic beer in the market, a major hurdle has been traditionalists who think that non-alcoholic beer is a fad or that offering only one variation will satisfy the market.

“This is both a challenge and an opportunity, and we’re aiming to satisfy the curiosity.”

Hiatus Beers has just released a pale ale to round out its beer offering, with three styles to suit settings for enjoying non-alcoholic beer, under the sun, by the sea and for those wishing to explore.
