AUSTRALIA | ALDI has brought its shopping experience to locals in Wright, Canberra, marking its 600th store opening in Australia.
ALDI entered the Australian market in 2001, introducing Australians to a new and innovative way to shop for groceries. The unique business model is centred on serving up the highest quality groceries at the lowest prices for Australian households.
“Our 600th store opening in Wright marks a special milestone in ALDI’s Australian story. We have been delivering shoppers across the country unbeatable value for almost 25 years, and we can’t wait for the locals in Wright to experience this for themselves,” said Amy Peters, Managing Director, NSW/ACT at ALDI Australia.
ALDI Wright will offer the local community ALDI’s exclusive range of high-quality products at unbelievably low prices. The store will be packed with award-winning fresh fruit and vegetables, 100 percent Australian meat and of course, iconic Special Buys.
The spacious location will feature a 1,078 sqm custom-designed store, as well as a range of innovations, including self-checkouts, a modern interior design, and a simple layout, allowing customers to navigate the savings on offer easily. Additionally, access to underground parking spaces will be available, conveniently located near the store.
In 2001, ALDI opened its first two stores in Australia. One in Sydney’s inner-west suburb of Marrickville, the other in the outer southwest, near Bankstown Airport. Each store stocked just 600 products, most of which were unknown brands to the Australian public at the time.
When ALDI first came to Australian shores, Aussie shoppers were completely captivated and intrigued by the business model. In under 25 years, the retailer has expanded its store network to 600 stores, proudly employing more than 17,000 people nationwide, supporting over 1,000 Australian Business Partners, and serving millions of Australians every day.
For the past seven consecutive years, ALDI Australia has also been recognised as an Employer of Choice by the Australian Business Awards, which celebrates organisations with an employee-first mindset.
“Our employees are the heart and soul of our business. They work tirelessly, day in and day out, to bring our shoppers high-quality, low-priced groceries they love. Our growth in the Australian market is a direct reflection of their dedication and hard work,” said Jordan Lack, Chief Commercial Officer at ALDI Australia.
Lack added that he has seen firsthand the scale at which some of Aldi’s business partners have been able to expand.
“Our 600th store opening simply would not have been possible if it weren’t for our strong network of Business Partners and their commitment to developing the award-winning products ALDI shoppers know and love.”
Wright locals are set to be amongst the growing cohort of Australian shoppers who are increasingly coming to ALDI, seeking greater everyday value.
“We’re seeing more and more Aussies shopping at ALDI. They come in for the price but stay for the quality. That’s a testament to our incredible team who work across our Store and DCs, along with the support of our Business Partners who help create great products people love.”
