UK | Asda has unveiled some hero products from its Christmas food and drink range and identified the trends set to grace dining tables this festive season.
As the retailer celebrates its 60th Birthday this year, it’s gone big on some nostalgic trends. From the Christmas build-up, brunch, the main event and festive fondue, there is product for every occasion across the 500+ strong product range, with Christmas classics at the heart of this year’s offering.
For the first time, Asda has developed a range of breakfast items, perfect for a Friendsmas Brunch or to keep the family fuelled on Christmas morning.
Who said pigs and blankets should only be reserved for Christmas Lunch? Exceptional Hot Maple Pigs in Blankets, featuring prime cuts of British pork expertly blended with hot maple syrup and red jalapenos, are hand-wrapped in a dry-cure, oak-smoked streaky bacon. They make the perfect pairing with Exceptional Hot Honey Streaky Bacon. Add a drizzle of Asda Hot Honey for an additional warm kick.
Grazing still dominates the party scene, with Asda seeing a 55 percent sales increase in antipasti platters and olives last Christmas.
Adding a fresh take on grazing, Asda has gone big on Fondue with a Festive Fondue Kit, which comes with a selection of Milano Salami, chorizo, gherkins, marinated cherry tomatoes, salt & pepper breadsticks, tarragon, onion & chive twists; all to dip into a Vintage Cheddar Cheese Fondue Bake to create the ultimate alpine experience at home. Or a twist on a classic, Asda Pigs in Duvet Wreath.
It wouldn’t be an Asda Christmas without a touch of novelty. This year’s fun character is a classic Gingerbread Man. Customers will spot over 30 products across the store.
The fun and flavoursome character appears in the form of a frozen Gingerbread Man-shaped Belgian Chocolate Mousse, filled with gooey toffee sauce and honeycomb pieces. Gingerbread Long Dough, a cute doughnut filled with gingerbread frosting, which is hand finished with a gingerbread man decoration. Cola flavoured Gingerbread Man Gummies and, of course, a traditional Gingerbread House, to name but a few.
As for the main event, the Exceptional Slow Cured Rack of Pork with Truffle Butter and Parmesan Crumb is bound to wow guests at the dinner table or Boxing Day buffet.
For the perfect stress-free Christmas dinner, consider the pre-prepared Turkey with all the Trimmings Box. This box includes a slow-cooked turkey with pork, sage & shallot stuffing topped with bacon, roast potatoes, honey-glazed parsnips & carrots, buttered sprouts, red cabbage, pigs in blankets, and turkey gravy. With a total cook time of 1 hour and 40 minutes, hosting has never been so easy.
To finish off the day, what better way to celebrate than with a festive triple? In homage to the pistachio trend, which has taken the world by storm this year, customers can sip on Exceptional Pistachio & Milk Chocolate Flavour Cream Liqueur.
