The United Kingdom's number one pulses and grains brand, Merchant Gourmet, has launched a new frozen range of cooked Veg and Grains pouches.
The launch seeks to provide consumers with a quick and easy way to make fresh, vegetable-packed meals full of inspiring global flavours, as research reveals 35 percent of consumers find the frozen veg aisle uninspiring.
The range includes Korean-style vegetables and Mixed Grains, Mediterranean-style vegetables and Giant Couscous, and Mexican-style vegetables and Quinoa. Ready in just four minutes from frozen, they can be eaten alone or with a protein for a complete meal.
With over half (58 percent) of consumers picking up frozen products because they are easy to prepare, Merchant Gourmet's new pouches are perfectly portioned to provide a healthy meal with no fuss and no waste in minutes. Each pouch is packed with five different vegetables, is one of customers' 5-a-day, a source of fibre, and is entirely plant-based.
Richard Peake, Managing Director at Merchant Gourmet, said the brand wanted to create a frozen range that made injecting more plants into customers' everyday diets easy. The grab-and-cook pouches are for people who love fresh food full of flavour but sometimes lack the time to create healthy, nourishing meals at home.
"We developed this range so that after just four minutes in the microwave, you have a super healthy lunch or dinner without compromising taste or health. Just add a protein, and you have a stress-free, nourishing meal packed with flavour."
The new frozen range is now available in Waitrose and will launch in Tesco on 18th September.
