Foie Gras is a specialty food made from duck or goose liver fattened by gavage - Nestle has released a vegan version of the French delicacy called Voie Gras. The soy-based product utilises miso paste, truffle oil and sea salt to achieve authentic texture, flavour and appearance.
Due to animal cruelty, the production of Foie Gras is banned in several countries, including Finland, Italy, Poland, Turkey and the UK. Farmed birds are force-fed and fattened before slaughter.
The vegan alternative is also cheaper than traditional Foie Gras. The product launch coincides with the festive season, when it is most popular.
