UK | Greggs has reached another milestone in the rollout of its Bitesize Greggs format with the opening of its first supermarket location at Tesco Southwark Superstore.
Designed for smaller, high-footfall locations with limited space, the Bitesize format brings a tailored range of Greggs favourites to more customers while maintaining the quality, value and convenience they're familiar with.
The new shop, located within Tesco Southwark Superstore, gives customers convenient access to a selection of Greggs products, including the iconic Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Sweet Treats and Fairtrade hot drinks. Open seven days a week, the shop has also created ten new jobs in the local area.
"We’re always looking for ways to make the shopping trip even more convenient for our customers, and we're pleased to welcome the first supermarket 'Bitesize Greggs' at our Southwark Superstore,” said Liam Wagstaff, Retail Partnership Manager at Tesco.
“Now customers can pick up all their Greggs favourites while popping in to do their weekly shop, offering even greater convenience.”
The opening was the latest step in expanding Greggs Bitesize format, following successful launches at London Bridge Station, Sevenoaks Railway Station, Dartford Station and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.
While the traditional shops continue to play an important role in its estate, the Bitesize format has allowed Greggs to serve customers in locations where a full-sized Greggs may not be possible. Together, these formats support its ambition to bring Greggs to more communities and make thje products even more accessible across the UK.
As part of its ongoing growth plans, Greggs expects to open around 100 to 110 net new shops in 2026 and sees a long-term opportunity for at least 3,500 shops across the UK, supported by continued investment in its supply chain network.
