520 MILLION PLASTIC BAGS STOLEN IN UK

After a 5p levy on plastic bags was introduced in the UK last October, shoppers have stolen bags worth £26.7 million (around NZ$58.5 million), according to a survey conducted among 3,000 adults. More than 520 million plastic bags were nicked just in the first three months, on average three per person each month. A quarter of supermarket customers confessed they stole a carrier as they resented the fee.
