Australian consumer group CHOICE has released the results of its Christmas pudding testing. Experts tested 18 puddings from specialty producers and supermarkets to help consumers decide which is the best to buy this holiday season.
The $12 Coles Finest Luxury Christmas Pudding took the top spot, $36 The Traditional Plum Pudding Co Homemade Plum Pudding came in second, and the Newcastle Pudding Lady’s Traditional Christmas Pudding at $31 came in third.
“Our expert panel blind tasted all 18 Christmas puddings and assessed them on a number of criteria, including appearance and quality of finish, flavour and aroma, and quality of the mixture,” said Pru Engel, CHOICE Editor.
“Coles took out the top spot in our testing this year, with their Finest Luxury Christmas Pudding receiving an impressive score of 84% from our expert judges. The Coles pudding was also one of the cheapest products in our test, coming in at just $1.33 per 100 grams, beating a number of more expensive, specialist puddings on offer.”
