Drinks Multiple Retailer Of The Year In The UK

Aldi,

The UK's cheapest supermarket, according to a recent Consumer survey by Which? has fought off competition to be crowned 'Multiple Retailer of the Year' at the prestigious Drinks Business Awards, which was announced at a packed ceremony at the London Wine Fair.

The result comes after an intense year of innovation for Aldi, with a focus on strengthening its range of homegrown wines, doubling the number of low and no tipples, and working with emerging craft producers to launch products such as the Yorkshire Pudding Beer as featured on Channel 4's 'Aldi's Next Big Thing'.

Judges were seriously impressed, commenting that Aldi demonstrated impressive growth and outperformance in the wine and spirits category.

The judges continued that English wine had been a particular success for the retailer, with Aldi's BWS team introducing a new English Rosé and Pinot Noir Rosé.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said Aldi was multiplying and outperforming competitors like never before. Much of this is thanks to Aldi's successful wine, spirits and beer ranges.

"We have recently become the fastest-growing wine retailer in the UK and continue to be the go-to destination for outstanding beers and spirits at low prices," said Ashfield.

"This award is a testament to our buying team, who remain extremely focused on delivering accessible price points for shoppers that will allow them to enjoy amazing products without worrying about the cost."
