McCain Foods Deal with Potato Farmers

Potato farmers in AUstralia setlle a dispute with McCain

Potato farmers from Ballarat in South Australia demanded a pay rise for their crops,

Last week potato farmers from Ballarat in South Australia approached McCain foods asking for a crop price increase. The current rate was 33 cents per kilogram, and the farmers were after 59 cents, an increase that would reflect volatile oil and fertiliser prices.

The parties came to an agreement yesterday, negotiating a new base price and a levy arrangement that will reflect changing expenses.

A McCain Foods spokesperson said they were still in conversation with growers in Vicotria and Tasmania and that the company is committed to working with all its growers.
