PepsiCo has upped its plant-based game after acquiring superfood brand Health Warrior for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is the first investment from PepsiCo’s innovation hub, the Hive.
PepsiCo chief executive officer Al Carey said that the acquisition would further increase PepsiCo’s nutrition portfolio. “We’re thrilled to welcome the innovative Health Warrior brand to the PepsiCo family. This acquisition helps us increase our presence in the nutrition bar category, which is an attractive growth space.”
Health Warrior manufactures a variety of health products made from superfood ingredients. Some of the range includes chia seeds, protein bars, protein powders and protein muffins. Health Warrior chief executive officer Shane Emmett said that the company was excited to join the PepsiCo team and continue to expand their health food offerings.
The Hive which was launched by PepsiCo earlier in the year was set up to help develop new and emerging brands to keep up with consumer trends.
