The UK government has announced plans to introduce the first plastic packaging tax by April 2022. The tax will be applied to all single-use plastic packaging products that contain less than 30 percent recycled content. The government has this month opened the plan up to the public a consultation to determine what items should be taxed, and the threshold of recycled content. The consultation will also evaluate the likeliness of a Deposit Return Scheme.
