UK PACKAGING SURVEY

A new study by Which? has found that nearly half (48 percent) of all packaging in UK supermarkets is not easily recyclable. The study also found that 42 percent of food packaging was either labelled incorrectly or not at all.

Which? is calling on the government to enforce recycling labelling on food and beverage packaging. Making it mandatory, clear and simple to understand.

In order to achieve the results, Which? analysed 46 of the UK’s most popular grocery retailers including Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Aldi and Asada. Morrisons was found to be the worst offender, with 61 percent of its packaging found to be not easily recyclable.

Tesco and Waitrose were found to be the most recyclable friendly supermarkets with 40 percent of their recycling not easily recyclable.
