M&S Aberdeen Union Square Opens New Foodhall

M&S Aberdeen Union Square Opens New Foodhall, Café and Menswear Department

UK | M&S Aberdeen Union Square has opened its new foodhall, following an eight-month transformation to offer customers a fresh and exciting shopping experience.

The store now features a larger foodhall, double its previous size, as well as a brand new Coffee Shop and modern menswear department.

The 18,900 sq ft fresh market-style foodhall features the full range of M&S food and offers a fresh market feel to food shopping. Highlights include a significantly larger in-store bakery, a dedicated Hot Chicken Counter, a cheese barge and in-store Flower Shop and M&S Wine Shop, featuring an award-winning selection of popular favourites in the M&S Classics range.

This exciting expansion replaces the existing 9,000 sq ft Union Square foodhall and the St Nicholas Street store.

The foodhall at M&S on St Nicholas Street closed on Thursday, the 10th of April. The remainder of the St Nicholas Street store will close in summer 2025.

Store Manager Luke Smith, who has worked at M&S for six years, also manages both the St Nicholas Street and Union Square stores.

“We're delighted to unveil our new foodhall, after months of hard work and anticipation. We've created a space where Aberdeen shoppers can discover an incredible range of delicious products, all built on the great quality and trusted value M&S is known for,” said Smith.

“We're confident that this expansion will be a real treat for our customers, and we're so excited to finally share it with everyone."

Over 100 Remarksable value everyday staples are available across the store, price benchmarked against key competitors and with an M&S quality point of difference – all part of the retailer’s trusted value promise. And with Easter around the corner, the new store will have a whole host of brand-new spring treats for all the family.

Must-have Collection Easter eggs that are layered and loaded with decadent fillings and wow-worthy hot cross buns include new first-to-market flavours like the Dippy Egg Hot Cross Buns, filled with a gooey white chocolate centre.

The opening of the new food hall, coffee shop, and menswear section is part of plans for an impressive 97,300 sq ft full-line store, with a food hall almost double the size of the previous offering. This represents a GBP 15m investment in Aberdeen City Centre and is part of GBP 30m investment by M&S in its Scottish stores.

"This new foodhall is just the beginning of the unveiling of a new modern M&S in Aberdeen,” said Rachel Rankine, Regional Manager for M&S in North Scotland.

“We're thrilled to offer a taste of what's to come, showcasing our commitment to delicious food, trusted quality products, and great value options. This flagship store represents a significant investment, and we're building excitement for the full summer reveal, when we'll launch the complete Clothing and Home departments.”

The transformed store, which is expected to fully open in Summer 2025, will also boast a 48,000 sq ft Clothing, Home, and beauty department showcasing popular M&S brands like GoodMove, Per Una, Autograph, and Apothecary.

Customers will be able to find the latest fashions and beauty must-haves all under one roof, with the Beauty department set to triple in size to offer a greater selection of branded beauty products.

For added convenience, customers can use both Click & Collect and Scan & Shop services at the store.
