UK | M&S has opened a brand-new, showstopping 12k sq ft food store on Leytonstone High Road.
The new, fresh market-style food hall offers the very best of M&S Food, including seasonal produce from M&S Select Farms, an in-store bakery & coffee counter serving bread, pastries, and a range of takeaway hot and iced drinks.
Customers will also find dedicated Flower and Wine shops, alongside M&S’ Remarksable value range, made up of over 100 everyday essentials price benchmarked against competitors and family-friendly Bigger Pack Better Value choices.
Store Manager Chelsea Themistokleous, who leads the 67-strong store team, has celebrated ten years at M&S this year, having joined as a Customer Assistant and progressing to Store Manager in Archway.
“The team and I have been counting down to this moment, and I am so excited to be opening the doors to our brand-new Leytonstone store today. It’s been fantastic to have so many new joiners in the team, and we cannot wait to start serving the local community here – the welcome has been brilliant,” said Themistokleous.
“We are right by Leytonstone station, bus routes on the High Road, and have a car park round the back of the store, so whether you’re doing your weekly shop or grabbing something on the go, we will have your favourite M&S products ready.”
For commuters heading back home from Leytonstone tube station, a three-minute walk away, M&S’ iconic Dine In range is the perfect choice for a fuss-free restaurant-quality dinner.
For those looking to try something new, the store has just launched at the right time, with over 450 new summer products hitting the shelves.
This includes the Limited-Edition Strawberry & Crème Sandwich, which has taken social media by storm, the new Chunked ‘N Loaded Cookies available from the in-store bakery and a whole host of BBQ and picnic favourites, including Our Best Ever Posh Dogs and Mature Cheddar & Marmite Sausage Rolls.
Customers should also look out for the brand-new selection of Spritz tinnies.
“Residents of Leytonstone will be delighted to see their brand-new M&S store open its doors. We’re working hard with businesses like M&S to bring more shopping choices for local people alongside new employment and professional development opportunities to help them thrive,” said Cllr Ahsan Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration at Waltham Forest Council.
“This is a huge show of confidence in Leytonstone and the local community, and we’re very excited to be helping make it such a great place to live.”
The opening has created over 50 new local jobs, with fourteen colleagues joining from Marks & Spencer's employability scheme. The team gathered at the store entrance, joined by Percy Pig, to cut the ribbon and officially open the store.
M&S Food in Leytonstone is one of 12 new UK Foodhalls opening this financial year as part of M&S’ store rotation programme, backed by a GBP 300m investment.
