USA | Whole Foods Market will open a new 44,648-square-foot store in Stamford, Connecticut, on the 12th of December.

Previously a Lord and Taylor, this renovated space in Stamford was inspired by the former store’s layout. Shoppers can explore curated spaces that give each department its own boutique feel, showcasing a blend of natural textures and rich tones.

The Stamford store’s product assortment will include more than 1,000 local items from the Northeast sourced with the help of John Lawson, Forager for Local and Emerging Brands at Whole Foods Market.

Features of the new Stamford store include a vibrant produce section evoking a fresh, organic market feel. The section offers an array of certified organic, conventional, and Sourced produce, including potatoes and squashes from Row 7 Seed Co., salad varieties from Gotham Greens, and microgreens from Gilberties Organics.

The specialty department has been dedicated to celebrating cheesemakers and artisan producers. Local items include mozzarella from Lioni Latticini and pasta from Nuovo Pasta. The cheese counter will be overseen by trained cheesemongers who can offer recommendations for any occasion.

The curated grocery section has been filled with private-label favourites from 365 by Whole Foods Market and local products, including tortillas from Vista Hermosa, grass-fed milk from Family Farmstead Dairy, and artisan loaves from Heidelberg Bread Company.

New local items are launching at Stamford, including plant-based cookie dough from Doughy, oat and pistachio milk from Edenesque, and kitchari from Divya’s.

The full-service seafood counter features only sustainable wild-caught or Responsibly Farmed seafood and a large selection of ready-to-cook seafood. Local seafood options include smoked salmon from Catsmo Artisan Smokehouse, West Robins Oysters and seafood cakes from Lagniappe Foods.

At the same time, the full-service meat counter has butchers available to cut steaks and poultry to order. Other features include dry-aged beef and sausage made in-house. Local suppliers include Briarwood Cattle Farm, which will be exclusive to this store at the time of opening.

There is also an extensive selection of more than 220 craft beers, including products from more than 30 local breweries, including Athletic Brewing Co., Two Roads Brewing and Kent Falls Brewing Co.

The Prepared Foods department features a hot bar, salad bar, and pizza. Department highlights also include made-to-order sandwiches, sushi made fresh daily from Genji, and a Market Plate venue, where customers can choose from a variety of entrée and side options like salmon, roasted chicken, and homestyle macaroni and cheese.

The bakery department offers bread baked fresh daily and everyday favourites, such as Whole Foods Market’s Berry Chantilly Cake and brown butter cookies. The department also carries a wide variety of special diet items, including vegan brownies, cakes, and chocolate chip cookies, along with several gluten-free selections.

Local options include artisan pitas from Angel Bakeries, muffins from Abe’s, and assorted desserts from By the Way Bakery.

Whole Body department has many wellness, beauty, and lifestyle items. Local products include ginger shots from Annie’s Ginger Elixir and artisan soap bars from RAD Soap Co.

Opening morning, customers will enjoy complimentary coffee and muffins from Abe’s. The first 300 customers in line will receive a limited-edition tote bag and a Secret Saver coupon featuring offers up to $100 off.
