7-ELEVEN UNDER FIRE IN AUSTRALIA

7-ELEVEN

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven has recently come under fire in Australia, after workers from 400 stores across the country submitted claims of underpayment. Over 15,000 former and current employees were also invited to apply for compensation, but fear of deportation allegedly prevented many of them from complaining.
Similar wage issues have also been raised for 7-Eleven’s chain Starbucks Australia, although the company’s head office emphasised that the case was overstated. All 7-Eleven convenience stores employees are paid by franchisees, whilst Starbucks staff receive payment directly from 7-Eleven.
