A couple of days ago, Countdowns in Milford, Pt Chevalier, Glenfield, and Pukekohe shut down after heavy rainfall led to severe flooding.

The Countdowns in Glenfield and Pt Chevalier suffered roof damage and were forced to close doors while repairs were undertaken.

According to a spokesperson, luckily, no staff or customers were injured.

Recently, Auckland has been battered by wet and wild weather thunder, and lightning storms make their way across the North Island.

Several schools were also forced to close as streets and motorways were submerged in water across the Auckland region, with multiple reports of people trapped in vehicles.

On Monday, Auckland recorded one of its biggest rainfalls and over 4,000 lightning strikes in one hour.

Warnings and watches for heavy rain and thunderstorms are currently in effect for a large part of the North Island, from Auckland through Waikato to Taranaki, along with Tasman west of Motueka in the South Island.
