Better Tea With Dilmah

Dilmah has introduced its "Enhance the World through Tea" initiative in honour of International Tea Day on the 21st of May. The campaign is designed to increase awareness about the importance of tea in fostering global understanding, nurturing relationships, and promoting the socio-economic welfare of communities worldwide.

"Dilmah believes in the ability of tea to unite people and improve the world," said Dilhan C. Fernando, Chairman of Dilmah.

"Through International Tea Day, we aim to encourage individuals to take a moment to savour a cup of tea with their loved ones and acknowledge the cultural heritage and socio-economic significance of ethically produced tea."

Ethical tea cultivation and processing has been crucial in advancing various United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including reducing extreme poverty, fighting hunger, empowering women, and promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.

Merrill J. Fernando, the founder of Dilmah, dedicated his life to combating large corporations' commodification of tea and minimising their impact on vulnerable communities.

Today, the brand has positioned itself as a business focused on serving humanity and making a positive impact on communities and the environment.

Most recently, they donated a quarter of a million tea bags to the City Missions across New Zealand and marked their 26th year of financial support for Hospice NZ.

Dilhan C. Fernando, CEO and Chairman of Dilmah will participate in the Auckland City Mission's upcoming annual Celebrity Cook-off event this June.
