Circle K Pamma Retail Group Signs Wholesale Agreement

Woolworths New Zealand (WWNZ) and Pamma Retail Group, the New Zealand master franchisee for global convenience retailer Circle K, have announced a wholesale agreement that will see New Zealand Grocery Wholesalers provide groceries to Circle K stores in New Zealand.

The agreement with Pamma Retail Group will enable Circle K to offer a greater product range and more choice for its customers. The agreement represents the sixth confirmed wholesale customer since Woolworths New Zealand announced the set-up of its wholesale business, New Zealand Grocery Wholesalers, in June 2022.

Steve Sexton, General Manager of New Zealand Grocery Wholesalers, said that while the business’ wholesale capacity is still growing, agreements with retailers like Circle K will create better outcomes for shoppers around Aotearoa and increase options in the grocery sector.

“We’ve worked hard over the past year to build an entirely new wholesale business at pace, and it’s been heartening to see such a positive response from the sector so far, including our supply partners and customers. We’re dedicated to helping to provide better options for Kiwi shoppers across the board, and our agreement with Circle K is another important step in making that a reality,” said Sexton.

“Our team will continue to work closely with Circle K as it looks to build out its offering with great products for Kiwi shoppers.”

Circle K offers fast and friendly service, providing fresh food, hot and cold beverages and other convenience products, as well as fuel, car wash and, in a growing number of locations, electric vehicle charging.

"We are excited to introduce our new grocery offerings and provide customers with a convenient and affordable shopping experience. We will continue to expand on our grocery selection to meet the evolving needs of our customers," said Pamma Retail Group Chief Executive Officer, Iqubal Basra.

The new grocery offerings available in Circle K stores will provide customers with a convenient one-stop-shop for their daily needs at competitive prices.

WWNZ New Zealand Grocery Wholesalers business operates separately from Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice, with a completely different buying team having discussions with suppliers around products, supply and potential wholesale volumes.

“Opening up our wholesale offering has been a team effort across the board, from suppliers to customers to our NZ Grocery Wholesalers team, and it’s been great to see the results of that start to come through,” added Sexton.
