Doubling Down On Sustainable Living

The Warehouse Group has announced the appointment of Mark Anderton as its new Chief Sourcing and Sustainability Officer.

The Warehouse Group CEO Nick Grayston said Anderton's focus on ethical sourcing and the expansion of sustainable product lines makes him the ideal choice to lead The Warehouse Group's sustainability efforts.

"Anderton's appointment is a testament to The Warehouse Group's dedication to fostering talent throughout our ranks. From a casual employee at The Warehouse Hastings in his youth to serving as Executive General Manager of Global Sourcing since November 2019, Anderton has great depth across the Group and the retail industry," said Grayston.

Grayston continued that Anderton and his team had made significant strides in collaborating with suppliers, promoting ethical sourcing practices, and expanding the range of sustainable products offered by The Warehouse Group.

The Group's progress includes a third of private-label sales with sustainable attributes and 43 percent with sustainable packaging.

"We've put a lot of work into tackling our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, most recently with our switch to solar power, so our focus is turning to reducing emissions in our supply chain."

Anderton's extensive experience in sourcing positions him well to spearhead The Warehouse Group's following sustainability initiatives as it moves into the execution of its strategy, specifically to reduce Scope 3 emissions to fulfil our 2040 Zero Emissions Plan.

"We're re-affirming our commitment to make sustainable living easy and affordable for everyone. Our progress in sustainability has picked up in recent years, but we acknowledge that there is still a significant journey ahead of us. We'll continue to work together diligently to continue this vital work."

Anderton will continue to be based in Shanghai, China, where he heads up the global sourcing team.
