Fonterra announced the internal appointment of David Breckenridge as Managing Director, Fonterra Oceania.
Breckenridge has stepped into the position following René Dedoncker’s earlier appointment to Managing Director, Global Markets Consumer and Foodservice.
Speaking of the announcement, Dedoncker said Breckenridge’s background and experience make him ideally suited to lead the Oceania business through its next critical stage.
“David joined our business in August last year as Fonterra Oceania’s Commercial Director. He has brought with him a wealth of agribusiness, manufacturing and retail experience and a proven track record from more than 20 years in leadership positions at Treasury Wine Estates and Coles,” said David Breckenridge, Managing Director, Fonterra Oceania.
“David is a strong supporter of Fonterra Oceania’s strategy, and he understands the importance of ensuring that our business continues to deliver at strong levels. Over the past six months, I have continued to directly lead our Oceania business. The time is right to appoint a new leader who shares the same passion for our dairy business.”
Breckenridge said he was delighted and excited to have the opportunity to lead the Fonterra Oceania team.
Since joining the Fonterra Oceania business, he has been astounded by the quality of the people, dairy products, and relationships on the Oceania team. He firmly believes that the co-op is on the path to success, with a solid strategy, a history of delivering, and a wealth of opportunities ahead.

A recruitment process will commence in due course for a new Commercial Director, Oceania. The appointment is effective immediately.
