Grocery Charity Ball 2023 Updates

The Grocery Charity Ball has shared some updates to celebrate the New Year, including new trustees and the 2023 charity.

The 2022 Grocery Charity Ball was held on October 29th, and the organisation raised $306,000 for Catwalk’s spinal cord injury research.

Nearly 20 years strong, the Trust has been able to raise over $4.5 million for charities throughout New Zealand and will continue to do so in the years to come.

This year, some new additions to its Board of Trustees have been announced. William Papesch, who is the head of Marketing at Cadburys (Mondelez) and Nicole Campbell, who is the Head of Sales and Marketing at Dilmah NZ. Both are passionate supporters of the Grocery Charity Ball and have big plans to take the event to a higher level in the future.

Ross MacKenzie, Don Graham and Scott Mckay, the GCB founders, will be staying on for a few more years mentoring until their succession plan allows for the young guns to take over.

The organisation would also like to announce its chosen charity for 2023…Kiwi Can. Kiwi Can runs programmes throughout primary schools in New Zealand that engage students between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. They teach respect and resilience, build confidence and teach how to develop positive relationships. The programmes run weekly have helped to reduce truancy and bullying. They are a very deserving charity.

Keep an eye out, as the date for the 2023 ball is yet to be finalised, but it is expected to be sometime in November.
