Horticulture New Zealand Cyclone Gabrielle Updates

Recovery Grant Updates

Horticulture New Zealand has revealed that following Cyclone Gabrielle, Government recovery grants have increased funding.

The total available monetary value for clean-up grants equals 51 million New Zealand dollars. These grants are available exclusively to MPI (Ministry of Primary Industries) administered companies.

Businesses and those affected can apply for recovery funding until the 20th of March 2023, but those in more isolated areas have greater flexibility with leeway to apply until the 3rd of April.

However, Horticulture New Zealand clarified that those who have already received recovery funding would not be eligible to apply again.

Those applying must be explicit about their specific recovery support and cleanup needs. The initial grant approved would not exceed a value of more than 40,000 New Zealand dollars per grower. However, specificity around needs will help guide further funding decisions.
