Consumers should be able to access as much information as possible about food products, and manufacturers have an obligation to inform them on packaging, said Len Croudis, country manager for SunRice, in the latest FGC Leaders series’ video.
“Consumers, when they look at a product, really need to read the back of the packaging a lot closer,” Croudis said. In terms of safety and quality, he added, the supermarket industry has very precise standards, ensuring that it meets the consumer need and ‘performs as it should.’
According to Katherine Rich, chief executive of FGC, food safety is one of the reasons NZ manufacturers have such a high reputation around the world.
