Over 140 students packed the Owen Glen Building at the University of Auckland for the first Speed Networking Event that was put on by FMCG Futures For Fast Moving Careers. Put together to promote FMCG as an industry of career choice for graduates the event also created a recruitment vehicle for FGC members.
"The event was organised to promote the FMCG industry to graduates as a preferred career option," said Kelly Smith, director of BizAdvisor. "The competition for talent is aggressive between industries and we want to ensure that students are aware of the diversity of career options in FMCG and choose us over telecommunications and banks etc. We need to focus on attracting talent into FMCG if we are to build long-term success."
A total of 24 companies took part in the event including Fonterra, Crossmark, Delmaine, Lion, Nestlé, and Villa Maria with the event looking to become a more permanent fixture on the industry's calendar.
