As is the case every year, Countdown has recognised the efforts of its 18,000 staff members by naming its three annual award winners. "It is a great opportunity to recognise the contribution Countdown's team members make every day," said Brett Ashley, general manager operations, Countdown.

At the culmination of the gala dinner, Andre Ciseau from Countdown Lincoln Road in Henderson, Auckland, was presented the title of Store Manager of the Year. He thanked his staff. “I have the utmost appreciation for the two teams who I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past year, Hobsonville Point and Lincoln Rd. Without them, I wouldn’t have won.”

The second coveted title, Checkout Operator of the Year, went to Eliza Ross from Countdown Hobsonville, the best operator among over 400 applicants.
Lastly, following a heated competition against more than 500 team members, who were tested on theory, pre-operation safety and driving skills, Sione Latu took home the title of Forklift Operator of the Year.
