Two major medical equipment and consumables manufacturers have been given the go-ahead to merge by The New Zealand Commerce Commission.
EBOS Medical Devices Australia Pty Limited (EBOS) proposed a takeover of the New Zealand LifeHealthcare business. Both companies are major distributors of medical equipment and consumables, they currently compete with each other, and several other manufacturers, to provide specialist medical equipment for spinal surgeries.
The Commerce Commission is satisfied that the products produced by the companies will not increase in price, or reduce in quality due to the merger. Therefore, is happy for it to go ahead. This clearance is part of a larger Asia-Pacific transaction, where EBOS will acquire one hundred percent of the shares in Pacific Health Supplies TopCp1 Pty Limited or the ultimate holding company of LifeHealthcare.
