METCASH BACKS OFF THE CODE

AUSTRALIAN distribution group Metcash has decided not to sign up to the new Food & Grocery Code of Conduct “at this time”. Metcash has expressed concern about the impact on its small retailers and small suppliers although many of the company’s existing practices were consistent with the Code requirements. Metcash is voluntarily adopting the Code on a trial basis  and is implementing a compliance programme for its more than 1400 IGA supermarket franchisees to align with the Code.
