Cartel Food Co. has announced that starting early October, its proudly handmade, hand-rolled frozen burritos will be available to purchase at Countdown supermarkets nationwide.

Founded by Wellington natives Melissa and Jason Phillips, Cartel Food Co. was born out of a desire to offer high-quality frozen Mexican food. Having observed the rise of popularity in Mexican restaurants, the pair noticed a gap in the market for convenient and authentic Mexican food. Since its launch in 2015, the company has achieved 550% growth in sales revenue and in the last four years have sold 500,000 burritos.
There are currently five burritos offered in the Cartel Food Co. range: Poblano Chilli Pulled Pork, Smokey Chipotle Chilli Shredded Beef, Chilli & Lime Shredded Chicken, Beans & Cheese and their 100% vegan burrito made with black bean, roasted corn and chilli lime tofu. Quick and easy to cook all they require is 2.5 minutes in the microwave and a brief crisp up in a pan.
