The Showgrounds Hill Countdown opening has been delayed to November due to roadworks, the weather and consent. The store was first announced in December 2020 and would replace Countdown Church Street.
The Church Street store was set to close its doors in June this year due to the building’s deteriorating condition. However, the closure has been postponed until the new store opens. The 65 staff from the Church Street store have been given options to stay with the business, including moving to the Showgrounds Hill store.
